CAPITOL CHAPTER CHRISTMAS RALLY

11-13 DECEMBER 2009 AQUIA PINES CAMPGROUND,

STAFFORD, VA

A total of eight families enjoyed all the weekend rally activities.  All had arrived by
5:00 PM six by coach and two from motels.  During our Friday happy social time
Rudolph arrived.  Everyone was surely surprised by his guiding red nose.  After a
wonderful social time Rudolph, with his bright red nose, agreed to guide us all
through the weekend festivities. The famous ZumRhingatten did not live up to its
reputation.  The service was great and the ambiance was wonderful. However
some of the entrées arrived cold and rare.   Everyone did enjoy the camaraderie of
being together.

Saturday morning coffee and donuts proved to be a memorable event. Konrad was
the surprise entertainment with his partner as it was a belly laughter event.  Then
everyone departed to the Marine museum. The museum is a great wonderful
enjoyable place.  At times it can bring some tears too your eyes.  Most folks
enjoyed lunch at the Tun Tavern.  Santa was there taking notes and lists from
children and folks.  Also having the opportunity to have your picture taken with
Santa.  Betty and I had our picture taken during a nice chat with Santa.  We asked
Santa if he could help keep the troops safe and make sure all the troops received
a Christmas gift.  Santa said “His sleigh was overflowing with gifts for the troops”.

Late Saturday afternoon we arrived at Gunston Hall, home of George Mason.  After
spending time viewing the museum and the gift shop the traditional family style
holiday dinner was served. After dinner we all walked by candle lighted walkways
and toured the estate and many original buildings.  Also stopping along the way at
warming wood burning fires.  The George Mason house is very interesting.  We
had nice chats with George, his family and friends.  In the cook house building we
were given samples of syllabub, venison, ginger cakes, Christmas bread and hot
mulled cider.

Every family received a door prize at the Sunday morning coffee and donuts.  Then
it was hugs, kisses and farewells.  After we put everything back in place we
departed in the rain.

We thank all for attending.  If you weren’t there, you missed a good one.  And
finally we want to remind you that attending rallies is the best benefit you receive
from your chapter.

See you at the next rally.  Harold & Betty Nelson, rally host.

Merry Christmas to all and to all Happy New Year.
